SDAU came into existence after the quadrupling of the erstwhile GAU on 01 May 2004 with jurisdiction covering seven districts namely; Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Patan, Mehsana, Gandhinagar, and Kachchh. The main campus, Sardarkrushinagr located at the foothills of the ‘Aravalli’ mountain range is a green, serene, and picturesque place, providing a perfect environment for education and research.

The SDAU enjoys a top reputation among the learning and farming communities owing to its multidimensional contribution towards education, research, and extension in the field of agriculture and allied sciences. The SDAU is functional through nine colleges of agriculture and allied sciences, twenty-five research centers, seventeen extension centers, including three ‘Krushi Vigyan Kendras, and five diploma polytechnics.

SDAU – Grappling with Challenges

SDAU was facing typical issues hindering the day-to-day operation of the university’s academia

1. Legacy ERP: Missing features or lack of support resulted in semi-automated and confusing operations
2. Lack of support for PG students

• The university and affiliated colleges were working in silos. There was no clear view of what was happening at the other end. All academic communication was being done manually.
• The result processing and declaration were very time-consuming and tiresome.
• University staff had to deal with custom formats used by different colleges.
• Lack of a Dashboard for the dean and senior positions for monitoring academic activities.

In summation, the Universities and colleges were in dire need of digitization to process in sync to reduce turnaround time, smooth operations, and effective and clear communication.
